Only 1% of the U.S. Housing Stock is accessible by a wheelchair. Only 4% of housing can be utilized correctly with any mobility device (walker, cane, etc.). 90% of AARP people polled want to "Age in Place" (grow older in their own home). 25% of the U.S. has some form of disability or divergence from the norm either physically or mentally, currently. That number will only increase, as we pass by 2034 into a world with more 65+ year olds than 18 and under, for the first time in the history of the world, and for the foreseeable future from that point forward.
