Description: You NEED a PRESENTATION “at the ready”. Just as you need an elevator speech of 90 seconds, a conversational 3- 5 minute soundbite in your arsenal, along with the extended verbal ability to speak on your subject matter publicly. Setting up your slide deck, speaker notes, and practicing with visual aids is a critical component of public speaking for Aging in Place. Design matters a lot, when you are presenting a slide deck or other visual aids. Images illicit emotions, so the pictures and graphics you choose are going to matter. On the plus side, A.I. has come a long way to assisting with imagery and with honing your messaging, which is great. But DO NOT let it be your FINAL script. It’s a draft that still needs your personality, emotion, and anecdotal storytelling additions and edits. Reverse Engineer your shorter versions of your presentation, after you’ve created your “signature” piece at 25-30 minutes. Most presentation slots are 25-30 minutes (once you’re known and given the time), with 5-15 minutes of Q&A after you speak. But in the beginning, you may only get 10 or 15 minutes and share the stage with others. You have to be ready for any time slot lengths. Backing out pieces from your extended signature initial presentation is the best way to work down to shorter speaking timelines.
You will LEARN:
- How to build out your first and “signature” presentation at 25-30 minutes with a slide deck visual aid.
- Why imagery and design matters when selecting your photos and graphics for the slide presentation.
- How to reverse engineer your 30 minute presentation into smaller / shorter options for multiple time slot options.
